Vaccinations

Protecting your pet through vaccination is one of the most important investments in their long-term health you can make. At Oasis Small Animal and Exotics Veterinary Hospital, we create customized vaccination protocols based on your pet’s species, age, lifestyle, and unique risk factors.

Why Vaccinations Matter

Vaccines protect against life-threatening diseases that can affect pets of all ages. Beyond safeguarding your individual pet, vaccinations help control diseases that can spread to wildlife, other pets, and even humans.

Young animals in particular need timely vaccinations while their immune systems develop. But protection doesn’t stop there—adult pets need regular boosters to maintain immunity throughout their lives.

Customized, Thoughtful Care

We take time to discuss your pet’s specific needs during our 30-minute appointments. We consider:

  • Your pet’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle
  • Exposure to other animals
  • Travel habits
  • Local disease risks in our area
  • Your pet’s health history

This personalized approach means your pet receives exactly the protection they need—nothing more, nothing less.

Core Vaccines We Recommend

For Dogs:

  • Rabies (required by law)
  • DA2PPV (protects against Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus 2, Parvo, and Parainfluenza)

For Cats:

  • Rabies (required by law)
  • FVRCP (protects against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia)

We can perform core vaccine titer testing for dogs and cats to determine if a booster is needed.

Lifestyle-Based Vaccines

Depending on your pet’s activities, we may also recommend:

  • Bordetella (kennel cough) – for social dogs
  • Canine influenza – for dogs visiting parks, groomers, or boarding
  • Leptospirosis – based on local risk factors
  • Feline leukemia – for outdoor cats

Even indoor-only pets need protection. They can encounter diseases through open windows, on your clothing, or from other pets visiting your home.

Exotic Pet Vaccinations

As one of the few practices offering comprehensive exotic pet care, we provide species-appropriate vaccines for:

  • Rabbits (RHDV2)
  • Ferrets (rabies and distemper)
